She was only seven, she had grown up on the farm,
Spent her life around horses, filled with tomboy charm,
Outside in the stall, The stockman cocked his gun,
Pointed at the stallions head, As it began to run,
No! the young girl screamed, As she began to banter,
Though he is a stubborn horse, She could teach him how to canter,

The stallion was a wild one, that could not be broken in,
Took ten men to hold him down, To have shoes put on him,
The little girl she begged and pleaded, to let her have a go,
The stockman unwillingly agreed, the girls face began to glow,
She saddled up, Jumped on his back, Hoisted on by good old Sam,
Well he took off like a gun shot, heading straight towards the dam,

He bucked and kicked and whinnied as he tried to throw her off his back,
She held on for all buggery, As he bolted down the track,
When he reached the waters edge, he threw her with such force,
She skimmed across the water, her life had run its course,
Her neck had broke on impact, as she skimmed across the dam,
Her body lay there lifeless, spotted by old sam,

Laid upon the stallions back, They walked back to the barn,
Tears welled up in old Sam's eyes, as he told the dreadful yarn,
The stockman cocked his rifle with a tear in either eye,
But somewhere deep inside his heart, he knew she didn't want for him to die,
Then suddenly he realised, The steed had walked the whole way here,
The girl had somehow done it, the horse would now adhere,

He raced in many races, first place he claimed in all,
He'd take off like a little beauty, the quickest from the stall,
Now many years have past, The farm long been shutdown,
The horse still said to roam there, by the dam around sundown,
As for those who've followed him and gone in for a Swim
Say you can hear the little girl, Calling out for him.

So different, So strange,

She's unlike the pack,

Quiet and nerdy,

Scars down her back,

Hand me down clothes,

And shoes that don't fit,

Glasses and braces,

Hair knotted and split,

A world inside books,

Her reason to live,

The kids all around her,

Pains all they give

In real life she's teased,

Bullied and such,

But inside her novels,

She's brave and she's tough,

Then after school,

She makes her way home,

Teased and taunted,

And pushed in the snow,

Her daily depressive,

Her lonely walk home,


She opens the door,

Air smells of smoke,

Beer cans and ashtrays,

She coughs and she chokes,

Her father an alco,

Been drunk since the war,

Spew stains and food,

All over the floor,

Her mother a housewife,

Depressed and alone,

Six kids and a husband,

A broken down home,

Abused and miss treated,

Suicidal at least,

Bruises and cuts,

All over her cheeks,

One brother, One sister,

Older than she,

Three younger siblings,

Rowdy too free,


Up rickety stairs,

To a room of her own,

Old books, A tape deck,

Clothes all hand sewn,

Laid up in bed,

Lost in her dreams,

Of mermaids and unicorns,

And lands all unseen,

In comes her father,

Drunk as an ape,

He pins down his daughter,

Her nightly rape,

Into the shower,

She crawls and she cries,

A slit of a razor,

She prays as she dies,


Please save my family,

Though their bitter and hate,

Give them a chance,

Give them a clean slate,

Her crimson blood pours,

Like a bucket of paint,

Her heart beats much slower,

Her breathing is faint,

Blood gone from face,

She starts to go pale,

A whimpering cry,

A final exhale,


All over the news,

And spread through the school,

Now she is recognised,

Now she'd be cool,

Her classmates all gather,

Crying fake tears,

Guilty for their crimes,

To her all these years,

Roses are thrown,

The coffin goes down,

Now there she lies dreaming,

Safe under the ground.

Filtered happiness for just a while,
Beautiful girl with a broken smile,
A shadow cast upon lifes dreams,
Fine outside but the pains within,
Travelling straight to oblivion lost,
Meaningless somethings which time forgot,
Worthless worth to pennyless fools,
A daydreamers nightmare but ever so true....
